The Kentucky Arts Council announced a round of National Endowment for the Arts grants for Kentucky organizations. The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft and the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival will receive funding from the NEA to support their community arts programs. Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft will receive $39,000 to support their Sin Fronteras (Without Borders) program, which builds community connections through craft art. The exhibit and community art education project, which is targeted at Louisville’s Latino population, will include art-making workshops, lectures, artist residencies and an art exhibit.The Kentucky Shakespeare Festival will receive $10,000 to support their upcoming season, including a Shakespeare in Central Park production of “Much Ado About Nothing” and Camp Shakespeare, a summer youth theater program.A total of $185,000 for Kentucky arts organizations was approved at a National Council of the Arts meeting in March. Organizations outside of Louisville to benefit are Appalshop in Whitesburg, Lexington’s Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra and the Pioneer School of Drama in Danville.
