Tornado Warning for Jefferson County Expires, JCPS Schools Cleared

National Weather Service officials are on the ground in southwest Louisville determining if a tornado touched down earlier this afternoon.The weather service issued a tornado warning in the 2:00 hour and storm damage has been reported in the Fern Creek area. Later this afternoon, officials will announce whether a tornado touched down or whether the damage came from strong winds and severe storms.Louisville Gas and Electric reports more than 11,000 customers are without power. Most are in south central Jefferson County, near Highview and Heritage Creek.
