Henryville, Indiana Elementary Students Start Classes Wednesday

Classes begin Wednesday for Henryville, Indiana elementary school students affected by the March 2nd storms. This month, the West Clark School Board approved Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany for the new elementary school location, and the Mid-America Science Park in Scottsburg for the new high school location. The district will be transporting nearly 700 students on 14 buses,  said assistant superintendent John Reed.“We have got everything planned so that we will actually be picking up the students at the same time and the same places that they were picked up before all this took place," he said.Reed warned that buses may be running slightly ahead of schedule this week because they won't be picking up high school students until next week. But, drivers have been asked to take their time with their routes, he said. When high school students begin next week, the transportation logistics will change.“All the buses will be meeting in Henryville by the community center in which then all the high school students will get on one set of buses, the elementary will get on another set so that the high schoolers get go to Scottsburg and the elementary can go to New Albany," said Reed.Repairs to Henryville’s elementary and high schools are expected to be finished by the start of next school year, he said.
