Louisville Metro Councilwoman Attica Woodson Scott, D-1, is partnering with the Legal Aid Society to host a clinic for residents addressing foreclosures and expunging criminal records. The panel will discuss the process for settling disputes between landlords and tenants, as well as the process for removing minor offenses from criminal records. In 2010, Jefferson County had over 8,300 foreclosures and officials say the number continues to grow.Scott says the clinic is being offered to help homeowners and others who may need legal advice but do not understand the process."Knowing that there are a number of people in District 1 who fear facing foreclosure and people who are former felons who are trying to get their life back on track and need their records cleared of some minor convictions so they can move forward and be productive members of society," she says. The free clinic is scheduled for Tuesday at Neighborhood Place Ujima on 3610 Bohne Avenue. Residents are required to signup before the event and must call 502 614-3176 to register.
