Democrats Return to Indiana House; Right-to-Work Up For Final Passage

Legislative business has resumed today in the Indiana House, where Democrats had been boycotting action on a contentious labor bill.   The "right-to-work" measure would prohibit the collection of mandatory union representation fees at private compaines. The bill is up for its final House reading today;  a companion bill has cleared the Senate.Republicans, who control both legislative houses, say the policy is needed to spur job growth.  Democrats and organized labor contend it will lower wages and compromise workplace safety.Union demonstrators can be heard chanting outside the House chamber during floor debate.
