Newburg’s Boys and Girls Club is officially reopening on Jan 9th; the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana says it has met its $500,000 fundraising goal.Kentuckiana has raised just over $400,000 to reopen the Newburg club, which was one of three clubs the Salvation Army closed last fall due to financial problems. The fundraising campaign brought in donations from both corporations and from 160 individuals.The organization will now receive a $100,000 cap-off gift from Humana to reach its fundraising campaign goal.President Jennifer Helgeson says the Newburg location has commitments from over 150 members who will begin using the facilities next Monday beginning at 4 PM.The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana will continue to look for ways to reopen the closed Parkland and Portland clubs. The organization has offered a transportation service from these clubs to its Shawnee facilities for the past couple months.The cost for one year of programming per child is over $800 dollars, while the cost for a membership is $15 dollars annually.
