The first issue of a crowd-funded photo magazine is now on newsstands.This...Is Louisville is inspired by Life Magazine. The idea was posted to the website Kickstarter last year. The creators raised enough to pay for the first issue, and they sold enough ads to finance next month's issue. The editors hope to have similar success with ad sales in the next month.Creator Maggie Huber expects they will. She says having an actual copy of the magazine to show potential advertisers will be very helpful.“Even some of my photo stories they say, 'How long is the article going to be?' and I say, 'No, no no, it's pictures. We're telling stories with pictures.' So I think now that there's actually something to show them, they'll understand it a little bit better," she says.Huber is also expecting to start accepting story submissions from freelancers once the publication starts circulating.“I'm kind of hoping to," she says. "I really appreciate my core group of people I have because I trust them and I've known them for a long time. But I do think it would be really interesting to see what Louisville has hidden.”The magazine is free and distributed in the same places as many other local free publications."ButI'd also want to put it places people like my mom might go," says Huber.
