City Says Demonstrators' Tents Can Remain Until Jan. 6

Occupy Louisville demonstrators now have until Jan. 6 to remain at Founder’s Square.Circuit Court Judge Irv Maze has agreed to hear the demonstrators’ argument for why they should be allowed to continue spending the night at Founder’s Square, which the city has allowed for over a month. The city told demonstrators they may remain at the park until a new permit is issued. Mayoral spokesman Chris Poynter told WFPL that would likely be sometime next week after the county attorney had a chance to review the new permit.Poynter now confirms that the city will wait until after the hearing before taking any action, despite the current permit expiring on Dec. 31.The city has given Occupy Louisville members three different permits for separate locations since the demonstrations began in October. City officials have since announced they will issue a new permit, but will not allow overnight camping.
