Officials Awaiting Lab Results In Zappos Outbreak

Health officials in Bullitt County are still trying to determine what made dozens of workers fall ill Sunday night and early today at the Zappos fulfillment warehouse.A preliminary investigation indicates the illnesses were food-borne. More than two dozen workers were taken to hospitals and 29 others were treated at the scene for nausea and other symptoms. There were no life-threatening illnesses. Zappos provides free catered meals for its workers. Officials are awaiting lab test results to determine if the illnesses were caused by food. The company recently contracted with Masterson’s Catering to provide its meals. A co-owner of the catering business tells the Courier-Journal that it has been vigilant about safe food handling.
