The Louisville Metro Council will interview the 15 applicants who are vying for the District 1 seat on October 11 and meet a week later to select a candidate to fill the position.The office was declared vacant last month when former Councilwoman Judy Green was expelled from office due to a series of ethical and misconduct violations. She was the first council member removed from office in Metro Government history.Each applicant will be questioned by city lawmakers and given an opportunity to address the council in order to discuss their views on various issues and vision for the district, which covers parts of west and southwest Louisville. The candidates include a former police officer, social justice advocate, substitute teacher, attorney and business consultant.The interview process will take place in City Hall and begins October 11 at 4 p.m. The council will hold another special meeting on October 18 to choose the new member by a majority vote.
