Louisville arts scene veteran Thomson Smillie has written a book that takes on the daunting task of making opera more accessible to the uninitiated. It's a topic he should know something about, having spent 12 years with Scottish Opera, an appointment as artistic directorship of the Wexford Festival, two years as general manager of the Opera Company of Boston, and 17 seasons as general director of Kentucky Opera.He joined us today on Here and Now to discuss some of the ideas presented in his book, How to Listen Learn Love Opera.
