P'Pool Introduces New Federal Oversight Campaign Initiative

Republican attorney general candidate Todd P’Pool is taking his campaign to Louisville this week and he’s bringing support from Kentucky’s neighbors. P’Pool introduced a new plan to fight the federal government at Louisville’s Galt House on Thursday. He was joined by Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (pictured left), who was there to support one key idea: fighting the federal healthcare overhaul. In 2009 Cuccinelli was the first attorney general to file suit over the law and he wants P’Pool to join the fight.“What we now know is that it is almost certain that this case will be decided and resolved by the Supreme Court by 2012, by June of 2012," said Cuccinelli.P’Pool said the healthcare reforms are just one example of how federal government oversteps its boundaries and, if elected, he’ll appoint attorneys in his cabinet to monitor the Federal Register, which publishes proposed rules and allows comments from states."To boil it down, Kentucky needs an attorney general that will monitor the federal government and the potential illegal impact within our state borders," said P'Pool.When questioned about how he’d pay or support the work, P’Pool skirted around the issue and said incumbent Attorney General Jack Conway isn’t giving Kentucky the voice it needs.Cuchinelli also helped raise money for P'Pool on Thursday at a fundraising event and former-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is expected to show his support for P’Pool at a fundraising event in Louisville Saturday.P’Pool said he’s not concerned the commanding lead of Gov. Steve Beshear in the gubernatorial race will keep Republicans home on Election Day. He expects voters to consider each race independently, he said.Conway leads P’Pool in the polls.
