The Kentucky Executive Branch Ethics Commission decided will not take action regarding a complaint filed by Republican secretary of state candidate Bill Johnson over homeless people registering to vote.Johnson filed the grievance two months over a 2-page memorandum sent to county clerks by the Kentucky secretary of state’s office telling local officials to approve voter applications that have “homeless” or “place to place” listed as an address. The GOP nominee has advocated a "no address, no vote" policy in an issue that has defined the race between him and Democrat Alison Lundegran Grimes. Johnson says a state official told him the panel decided not to look into the complaint because it lacks jurisdiction, adding its decision shows it did not investigate. From Lexington Herald Leader:(Grimes) said through campaign spokesman Jonathan Hurst that it should be embarrassing for Johnson that “his complaint is so without merit that the commission would not take a look at it.”
Asked if he plans to take any legal action against (incumbent Secretary of State Elaine) Walker and the elections board, Johnson said, “At this point, my focus will be to win the election and change the policy when I get into office.”
