University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong says Saturday’s win over UK was a relief to his senior players who had never experienced victory over their in-state rival. The Cards defeated Kentucky 24-17 in Lexington to snap a four game losing streak to the Wildcats.Strong told reporters at his weekly press conference today that a boost in fan support would give his team more confidence on the field. He says he’s puzzled by U of L alumni who favor UK over their alma mater."You know I have a friend, and I tease her all the time, and I know she’s going to get embarrassed when I say this, but she coaches my daughter in volleyball. She graduated from Louisville and she supports Kentucky. Her whole car is Kentucky. I don’t understand that. I’ve never heard of that. At Florida, you would never support Florida State if you were a Gator," he said.U of L has this week off, and returns to action October 1 against Marshall.Kentucky is back on the field this weekend, hosting Florida.
