P'Pool Touts Two Supporters While Conway Asks for Cash

Republican attorney general candidate Todd P'Pool announced Thursday that former Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson and former University of Kentucky basketball player Travis Ford will headline a fundraiser for him in October. Grayson served as Kentucky Secretary of State from 2003 to 2011, before taking a position in January as the Director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University. Ford was a star point guard for UK's basketball team in the early 1990s before becoming going into coaching. He is now the head coach at Oklahoma State. "Todd P'Pool is one of the most promising candidates Kentucky has seen in decades. I am excited that he understands that the attorney general can have a greater role in protecting the future of Kentucky and the lives of its citizens," Grayson said in a news release. "The commonwealth deserves an attorney general who is not only an accomplished prosecutor, but who will defend Kentucky's priorities."On Wednesday, the P'Pool campaign announced another big name Republican, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli would be campaigning for him in September.Meanwhile, the campaign for Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway told supporters Thursday that early contributions are crucial after P'Pool launched his first television ad earlier this week."Our campaign has great momentum. We are leading in the polls and we have the Republicans scrambling. Now I need your help to finish them off," says Conway, adding a preview of his first ad is coming. "This week, my opponent went up on TV. He's trying make this a real race and we can't let that happen. So, I need your help."
