Update: Water Main Break Floods Parts of U of L Campus

A broken water main at the University of Louisville campus has caused some flooding across part of the campus. The break occurred near Floyd and Warnock Streets, causing that intersection, and much of the campus, to flood.According to MetroSafe Communications, some people are trapped in buildings as portions of the flooding have reached almost five feet deep. According to witnesses, some tennis courts are under water at the Bass-Rudd Tennis center and the Papa John's across the street is surrounded by water.Louisville Fire and Rescue has responded to free those who are stranded.Update: The break led to diminished water pressure in much of the area between U of L and the Ohio River. The Louisville Water Company has issued a boil advisory for the area south of the river, north of the Watterson Expressway, east of 9th Street and west of Bardstown Road."The advisory is precautionary and will be lifted once water quality tests confirm the water is safe to drink," say company officials.Many downtown businesses were affected by the low pressure and boil advisory, but Mayor Greg Fischer tweeted that "Downtown companies and workers should have no issues tomorrow due to water main break. Service should be back to normal overnight."U of L officials say the university will be open Tuesday, but they encourage students to check for updates on the school's website before heading to campus.
