Stage Is Set For 137th Kentucky Derby

The 19 entries in the Kentucky Derby are undergoing final preparations for tomorrow’s race.The field was reduced by one with the removal of Uncle Mo, who continues to struggle with a stomach ailment diagnosed about a month ago.Three women will try to make Derby history. Kathy Rivko, who underwent a heart transplant two and a half years ago, is vying to become the first woman to train a Derby winner. Her colt, Mucho Macho Man, will run from post position 13."Things are going for us really well for us here. The horse is training really well, he’s happy, he’s doing good here, I don’t think a muddy track will bother him and everything’s going really well," she said. Also training a Derby hopeful is Kathleen O’Connell, whose horse is Watch Me Go.Jockey Rosie Napravnik is looking to become the first woman to ride a Derby horse to victory. She’ll be aboard Louisiana Derby winner Pants on Fire.The morning line favorite, at 4-1 is Dialed In.
