With River Rising, Metro Parks Makes "Thunder" Adjustments

In response to flooding along the Ohio River, Louisville Metro Parks officials have announced some adjustments to parking and other rules for Saturday’s Thunder Over Louisville.Cox Park will be closed to vehicular traffic due to flooding. Thunder patrons can park at nearby Thurman Hutchins Park and walk to nearby points to view the aircraft and fireworks shows. The upper section of Eva Bandman Park will be available for previously registered RV parking. Tent camping and “day of” fee-based parking will be relocated to Champions Park Corridor at Frankfort Avenue at River Road. The boat ramps at Cox and Riverview parks will be closed throughout the weekend. The Coast Guard is also discouraging boaters from being on the water during the celebration, with the Ohio River is at flood stage and dangerous for recreational boaters.
