Another vote will be held Monday on the middle school assignment plan for Jefferson County Public Schools.Consultant Gary Orfield has encouraged the school board to push back implementing the new assignment plan for middle school students until next year. That would go against a vote the board took last year to implement the plan this fall. Board chair Steve Imhoff says Orfield's suggestion may or may not have encouraged a majority of the board members to change their minds, but he won't go along with it."I think it's time to move on and whoever wants to postpone it needs to move on and go with the plan that we already voted two or three years ago to do it. We voted to continue doing it and not to stop," he says. The board also voted last year to delay the assignment plan for high school students. Elementary school students are under the new assignment plan, though many parents blame the plan for transportation issues.
