From the Associated Press:Indiana Republican leaders are considering ways to continue Statehouse business without the presence of minority House Democrats, who remain in Illinois protesting GOP-backed bills they oppose. Republican Senate Appropriations Chairman Luke Kenley of Noblesville says he may start holding budget hearings next week, even though the actual budget bill is caught in the House impasse. He says he’ll make a decision about hearings at the end of this week if Democrats don’t return. Republican Governor Mitch Daniels says it makes sense for lawmakers to do as much work as they can without the House Democrats, who didn’t return Tuesday when the House again tried to convene.Democrats say they’ll stay out until Republicans agree to change their proposals, but Republicans say they won’t be bullied into dropping their agenda.
