After being closed for more than two years because of budget cuts, Otter Creek Park will soon re-open under new management.The city of Louisville had owned and operated the facility for decades, but in late 2008, then-Mayor Jerry Abramson ordered it shut down to help offset a revenue shortfall.Last year, officials announced a plan under which it would be operated by the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.Park manager Charlie Logsdon says the 2,600 acre facility is being readied to re-open in late spring or early summer."Opening day we’ll have the disc golf course, the picnic areas, the hiking trails and horseback trails and mountain bike trails all open. The campground will probably open a litte later than that," he said. Otter Creek Park is located along the Ohio River in Meade County. It was given to the city of Louisville by the federal government just after World War Two.
