A longstanding eyesore at 28th and Broadway in west Louisville is getting a $2 million makeover and new retail tenants. Officials announced Friday that that old Winn-Dixie store will undergo a full renovation, including a new façade. The 44,000 square foot building’s anchor tenants will be Deals, and Citi Trends, a clothing store.Chris Hake with the development group Thompson Thrift says more retailers are being lined up for the property."We’re confident that probably in about 30 days we’ll have the space fully leased to a national food user, we’re looking at another apparel shoe user and then an electronics user as well. So we’re very excited about the future of this project," he said. The building has been vacant since 2004. The first tenants should be in place this summer.
