Bill Raising Dropout Age Clears House

(AP) A bill that would gradually raise the dropout age for Kentucky students has cleared the House and will move to the state Senate.The legislation would change the dropout age from 16 to 18 over the next five years. It's aimed at improving Kentucky's graduation rate. Six thousand students age 16 or older dropped out in 2009.Similar legislation that passed the House last year died in the Senate. The bill's fate this year is still uncertain.
