Another Democrat is vying to become Kentucky’s next Secretary of State: Lexington attorney Alison Lundergan Grimes, daughter of former Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Jerry Lundergan.Saying it’s time for a new generation to take the reins of government, Grimes became the third candidate running for Secretary of State.“Kentucky’s next secretary of state must be an ambassador to business," she says. "As an attorney, I work with the secretary of state’s office regularly and know how it can work better. I will make the office a one-stop shop for economic development and encourage businesses to come here. This means more jobs and a brighter future for Kentucky and its citizens.”Right now, it looks like Grimes will face Elaine Walker in the Democratic primary, with the winner taking on Republican Bill Johnson in the fall, but the filing deadline is next Tuesday. Governor Beshear recently appointed Walker to replace Secretary of State Trey Grayson, who's taking a job with Harvard University.
