By Sheila Ash and Rick HowlettAn Eastern Kentucky University professor has been appointed to be the new president of Louisville's Center for Women and Families.Officials say Marta Maria Miranda has 30 years of experience in social work, much of it in the area of sexual assault and intimate partner abuse.She's currently an Associate Professor of Social Work and Director of Women and Gender Studies at EKU.Miranda, a native of Cuba, will suceed Denise Vasquez Troutman, who's moving with her family to Florida.The Center for Women and Families offers shelter and help to victims of intimate partner abuse or sexual violence.
