By Stu Johnson, Kentucky Public Radio The first sale of the year is underway at Lexington’s Keeneland Sales Pavillion. Monday marked the beginning of the week-long ‘Horses of All Ages’ sale. Keeneland’s Julie Balog says this is one of four scheduled sales sessions in 2011.“We are having shorter sales with fewer days and that’s an actual reflection of the market place there is less production right now of horses than there was in previous years.”A total of 187 horses were sold on opening day for $10.6 million, including one that fetched $1.4 million.
