Louisville is getting a positive review in the latest issue of a national magazine dedicated to sustainable living. The city earned a spot on Mother Earth News' fifth annual "Great Places You've (Maybe) Never Heard Of" list."In past years we just kind of sat around a table and threw out ideas and we listed places that we had heard good things about and had visited and enjoyed. This year we did the same. I believe that louisville was a suggestion from the author, Joe Hart, and he had heard a lot of good things about what you're doing with 15Thousand Farmers and the LEED platinum green project," said Alison Rogers, the magazine's assistant editor. 15Thousand Farms is the effort to create more backyard gardens across Louisville. The Green Building on East Market Street was the first in the city to obtain LEED Platinum Certification.Other cities on the magazine's list are Huntsville, Alabama; Elgin, Illinois; Carrboro, North Carolina; Fredericksburg, Texas and Floyd, Virginia.(Photo courtesy of www.15thousandfarmers.com)
