The Healing Place Launches Fundraising Effort

The Healing Place, the Louisville facility that helps homeless people recover from drug and alcohol addiction, has launched a campaign to raise $1.2 million by the end of the year.President and CEO Jay Davidson says it began in mid-November after some expected large donations did not come through because of the economy."The fundraising effort is to close out our capital campaign. If we're able to raise the $1.2 million, we'll get a closing grant from the Kresge foundation for $800,000 to close out our capital campaign that built the new women's facility at 15th and Hill," he said. Davidson says the Healing Place is trying to raise the money in ten dollar increments, reaching out to donors through social media and a telephone campaign. So far the effort has raised more than $120,000.
