Jessamine County Educator Named "Kentucky Teacher Of The Year"

Erika Webb, who teaches English at East Jessamine High School, is this year’s Kentucky Teacher of the Year.Webb, who will represent Kentucky in the National Teacher of the Year competition, received a check for $10,000 from Ashland Inc. and an art glass bowl.“I’m no different than any other teacher who’s out there doing good work every day," she says. "I think it was just one of those random things where I’m lucky enough to get honored. But, I’m nothing special. There are people working just as hard as I do, if not harder, day in and day out in Kentucky public schools.”Ashley Forrest of Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Jefferson County is the middle school teacher of the year and Sarah Wilder of W.R. McNeill Elementary in Bowling Green Independent schools is the elementary teacher of the year. Each received a check for $3,000 and a decorative vase. In all, 24 Teacher Achievement Award winners were honored in ceremonies at the State Capitol
