There’s been a surprise guilty plea in a high profile murder case in Louisville. The plea came Thursday in the case against Cecil Eugene New New is a convicted sex offender who was scheduled to stand trial Friday for the kidnapping and murder of a four year old boy near Churchill Downs in 2007.New entered the guilty plea in Jefferson Circuit Court. Prosecutors say there was no plea deal made and they’ll still seek the death penalty at sentencing.Four year old Ivan Cano disappeared on June 29, 2007; his body was later found in the back of a garbage truck. New was arrested the following December. A hearing to determine a sentencing date has been set for October 25.
