By Sheila Ash Candidates running for various elected offices in Louisville were invited to speak on issues important to seniors today. The roundtable discussion was conducted by the Metro Louisville Aging in Place Council.Incumbent 3rd District Congressman John Yarmuth touted his support for the Elder Justice Act, which was part of the health care bill signed by President Obama and is aimed at protecting seniors from abuse and neglect. "I was a co-sponsor of it, proud supporter of it. Voted for it, voted for $135 million appropriation for it for next year," he said. Yarmuth’s Republican opponent, Todd Lally, says he fully supports the legislation but doesn’t think it should be part of the health care bill. Other candidates in attendance included those running for mayor, county attorney and Metro Council.
