But the end of the day did not go so smoothly.The Courier-Journal reports more than 400 students didn’t get home until after 6:00 last night. About a dozen kids didn’t get home until after 9:00. District spokesperson Lauren Roberts says the students got home so late because school staff did not follow the proper procedures to tag those students. Earlier in the day, there were fewer problems, but several students were not picked up by a bus or got lost.Speaking to reporters yesterday morning, Superintendent Sheldon Berman said the bus routes and ride times will be smoothed out over the next few days."It's always the ride home that tells us a lot. We have many parents who drive their children to school on the first couple of days and then the child takes the bus home, so we'll see more about those adjustments later."District officials promise to fix the tagging procedure today.
