Thousands of people have faced high temperatures this weekend to attend the inaugural HullabaLOU music festival.The three-day event is still underway and ends Sunday. Organizers say tickets to the event were sold in 47 states. Two of the tickets sold in Texas went to Cash Claridge and his wife Kirstin, who frequently attend music festivals, but have not been to Louisville before."[We've] been to some of the New Mexico state fairs, Dallas, L.A.—we've been all over the place and I rank it up there with everything else," he says.Not everyone in attendance was from out of town. Kennedy Prather (PRAY-thur) bought tickets for Saturday with her mother to see Ben Folds, among other artists."You always have to travel somewhere like Cincinnati and Bonnaroo and all those places…why not here?" she says. "We're at home."HullabaLOU is the first music festival held at Churchill Downs. Organizers will not say how many tickets were sold until after the festival. They had hoped to sell 90 thousand. Last week, a Churchill Downs Entertainment spokesperson told WFPL more than 45 thousand tickets had been sold.
