The newest members of the Brown Fellows Program were recognized today at a ceremony at the Kentucky Derby Museum. The program, created last year by the James Graham Brown Foundation, offers full scholarships to qualified high school seniors who plan to attend the University of Louisville or Centre College in Danville. There are 20 recipients in this year’s class. The program also sends the students abroad before they begin college. “I think the experiences that they provide in the summer, is just going to be, you know, enrichment that you can’t get anywhere else, you know to be able to travel and to be able to have the education funded. I think will give me the opportunity to excel more so than anywhere else,” said Alex Brown, a scholarship recipient from Missouri. Thirteen Kentuckians and seven out-of-state students were accepted into the program. (Story and photo by Andy Freudenberg)
