City Heat Relief Fund Depleted

By Rick HowlettLouisville Mayor Jerry Abramson says the city has exhausted the fund it uses to provide air conditioners and fans to those at risk .Abramson said he has committed $5,000 in contingency money to help shore up the Summer Heat Relief Program, which is funded by the federal government."Over the weekend alone, we had requests for an additional 200 fans and air conditioners. We're not sure whether all those individuals meet the federal requirements in terms of eligibility, but i think it shows you that although today is the first day of summer, it feels like August," Abramson said Monday.Abramson is also asking for donations of money or new fans and air conditioners for the program.More information is available here.
