Zoo Admission Prices To Increase

by Gabe BullardAdmission prices at the Louisville Zoo will increase next month. On July 1st, adult admission will go up by one dollar. Child and senior admission will increase by 55 cents. This is the first price increase since summer 2007. Spokesperson Kara Bussabarger says it coincides with the opening of the seal and sea lion habitat at the Glacier Run exhibit."The price increases go to operational expenses for keepers, animal food, programs, things like that," she says. "But it does usually occur in tandem with a new exhibit, because we're brining new animals in, so there's the added food cost and things like that."Bussabarger says the capital fundraising efforts that finance projects like Glacier Run do not typically cover the operational costs of the exhibits.
