Hometown Tourist Celebration Underway

Louisville residents are being encourged to explore local tourist attractions as part of the annual Hometown Tourist Celebration. The Convention and Visitors Bureau launches the effort just after the Kentucky Derby.Mayor Jerry Abramson says it's a way for locals to support the tourism industry and rediscover some of the places that attract out-of-towners to Louisville."When was the last time you were at the Science Center, when was the last time you went by Slugger Field and caught a game, when was the last time you had a chance to be a part of the Ali Center.....and the answer is a lot of folks overlook it until a friend comes to town. What we're going to do is make sure this is a month where you can take advantage of it," he said.Over the next month, the Convention and Visitors Bureau will sponsor special events and discounts for residents who visit local attractions.
