15,000 To Run In KDF Races

The Kentucky Derby Festival moves into high gear this weekend with the annual Marathon and Mini-Marathon.Spokesperson Mark Shallcross says a record 15,000 runners are signed up for the races, which begin at 7:30am Saturday."The course has changed somewhat. The start has moved to Iroquios Manor Shopping Center, its a wider area, and the runners will not be looping back on themselves like they did when they came out of Iroquois Park with the previous start line. and the finish has also been moved. It's been down at Sixth and Market for many years, but now we've moved it to Preston and Witherspoon," he said. Also on the Kentucky Derby Festival schedule this weekend is the Great Balloon Race, if weather permits.
