Explaining Pain
Maybe when you were a little kid and used to fight with your brother, your pinches to him seemed to hurt him more than his pinches to you. Did you think you were just braver? Or maybe as an adult you’ve been in a situation where a nurse or doctor has asked you to describe your pain, “flickering, pulsing, throbbing, etc.”. Did you wonder, “where did they come up with this?” Unfortunately, we all experience physical pain during our lives; some of us more acutely than others. Join us on Thursday when we learn more about pain, the theories behind diagnosing and treating pain, and how the science has changed over the years.
