The program works with retailers to identify and promote products grown or produced in the commonwealth. It’s run by the Kentucky Agriculture Department.Commissioner Ritchie Farmer says U-of-L is an ideal partner in the effort.“We have the same goals: to raise awareness about local food, to raise farm income, and to create economic development," says Farmer. "This announcement is a big step toward achieving all those goals.”Kentucky Proud has 18-hundred participating vendors, and Farmer says the program generated $250-million in revenue over the last three years.
