By Rick HowlettA Louisville company has until Friday to appeal a fine of more than $102,000 levied by the Metropolitan Sewer District for a February chemical spill that sent vapors into some homes in the Beechmont neighborhood.An MSD attorney tells the Courier-Journal that the fine against Nuplex Resins is the largest in at least 15 years.Dozens of residents complained of a chemical odor that came into their homes via the sewer system.The plant, which produces paint resins, is located near Louisville International Airport. Company officials have apologized for the February spill and offered to cover residents' expenses related to it, but have not publicly disclosed if they will appeal the fine.
