Lose It Louisville Program Encourages Weight Loss

by Stephanie CrosbyThe Mayor’s Healthy Hometown program has a new initiative called Lose It Louisville.Mayor Jerry Abramson kicked off the Lose It Louisville campaign, and says the goal is for a number of people in the community to go on a diet together and lose a collective 100-thousand pounds by the Labor Day Hike and Bike.“So you don’t need a gym membership to be involved in this," says Abramson. "You don’t need equipment at home to work out. Our parks are ready. The weather is great. The walking paths, the biking paths, the chance to engage with your neighbors.”Abramson says they’re hoping to sign up ten-thousand participants to lose ten pounds each. He’s committed to losing ten pounds himself.A new website – Lose It Louisville.com – will help participants keep track of their weight loss.
