A number of health-related projects received funding today as the federal government announced another round of stimulus grants.Louisville received $7.9-million dollars for a variety of health projects. They range from promoting breastfeeding in Louisville’s hospitals to providing healthier foods in schools.Health department director Adewale Troutman says they also want to find ways to bring healthier and fresher food to underserved areas.“We need to focus on communities that are on the margins," says Troutman. "Communities that may not have the best access to parks and rec and fresh fruits and vegetables, etc. A significant amount of work that we put into this application does focus on those communities to increase their access to opportunities to be healthy and make better choices.”Troutman says the funding for the projects starts today, and has to be used in the next two years.
