Looking at Contemporary Art

For some of us "art" means a landscape painted in oil or a vase of flowers done in watercolor. For others it means a bronze sculpture of a horse and rider or a marble statue of a goddess. Then there are the artists and patrons who prefer "Contemporary art". What? Well, "Contemporary art" is an all-encompassing term that can mean art of the moment or art since WWII. It can mean oil on canvas, Styrofoam cups in the shape of a cloud, videos or just about anything the artist chooses. So, how to work your way through the maze of contemporary art? Join us on Monday when we try and pin down some definitions, and get a better understanding of contemporary art.
