Saturday Morning Snow Update

Crews in Louisville are on the streets cleaning up from the night's snowfall.More than an inch of snow fell last night, and trucks have been dispatched to put salt on the roads and melt the precipitation. Mayor's spokesperson Lindsay English says yesterday's persistent rainfall prevented crews from pre-treating the roads."With the significant rain that we've already seen, that just wouldn't have been an effective use of our resources, because that brine solution would have pretty much been washed right off the road," she says.Transportation Cabinet spokesperson Andrea Clifford says the highways in Jefferson County are mostly clear."Since the temperatures didn't get below freezing—they hovered right at the freezing mark—we were able to get the roadways cleared pretty quickly treating them with salt," she says.Clifford says counties east of Jefferson and in northern Kentucky were harder hit, and roads there are being plowed.
