A Louisville-based non-profit group shipped a forty-foot container of medical supplies to Haiti this morning.Supplies Over Seas Director Allen Montgomery says his group coordinated with the organization Food For the Poor in Haiti to determine the biggest medical needs right now in the earthquake stricken country.“You’ll see things like crutches, orthopedic supplies, you’ll see things like skin prep and gauzes, bandages, syringes, IV supplies, a lot of the types of things you would see on a front line emergency setting," he says.Montgomery said the supplies will be trucked to Cincinnati, the taken via train to Miami and moved on to Haiti. He says they’ll continue to work with organizations on the ground in Haiti to send the medical supplies they need, which are donated by area hospitals and doctor’s offices.
