A data error has forced Churchill Downs to cancel its sale today of three-thousand bundled Derby and Oaks tickets on its new ticketing website. The sale of coveted Derby and Oaks tickets was supposed to promote the track’s new ticketing website. Spokesperson Darren Rogers says they were testing the website heavily over the last few days, and discovered a problem at the last minute that could have affected the way some customers’ orders were processed.“The last thing we want is a poor customer service issue for those people that are logging onto our new online ticketing system," says Rogers. The problem was discovered during testing overnight, and technicians tried to fix it before the noon sale.“One of the reasons this decision came at such a late notice: they were making tremendous progress on resolving the issue," says Rogers. "So we didn’t want to take any chances by inconveniencing anyone.”They cancelled the sale just thirty minutes before its scheduled noon start time. Rogers says technicians are working to resolve the problem, and they’ll reschedule the sale at a later date.
