PSC To Hear Arguments For Wind Power Surcharge Hearing

The Kentucky Public Service Commission will hear arguments Wednesday on whether to hold another proceeding on Louisville Gas and Electric and Kentucky Utilities' request to use surcharges to pay for a wind power contract. The PSC previously rejected the surcharges, saying it didn't have the power to approve them. Even though the PSC could grant a second hearing for the utilities, spokesperson Andrew Melnykovych says the Supreme Court will have to rule on the PSC's power to do so."That's ultimately going to wind up, potentially, making this entire process we're going through moot, in essence," he says.If the court gives the PSC the power to approve surcharges, it will have to hold yet another hearing to decide whether LG&E and KU can enter into the wind power contract
