School Vaccinations On Track, More Than 17,000 Doses Administered

Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness officials say they’re on track to provide H1N1 vaccinations at every school in the city. The in-school clinics began last Monday and so far, the department says everything is on schedule.Apart from a few students feeling lightheaded after receiving vaccinations, department director Dr. Adewale Troutman says there have been no problems. He says he has been surprised, however, at the number of students who were given permission to receive the vaccine."We know that there's some concern amongst parents that the vaccine is safe, although we said a number of times it's just as safe as seasonal flu vaccine, there's no reason to be concerned about that," says Troutman. "And the fact that we were doing it in schools which meant the parents had to have their consent forms in in advance."More than 17 thousand vaccines were given to students and faculty last week. The school vaccinations will continue through December 18th. For a schedule of school vaccinations, see below:Dates subject to change due to vaccine supply.
