Pitino's Cards Down Three Guards

The University of Louisville men’s basketball team takes on Charlotte this weekend without three of its top guards.Guards Preston Knowles and Peyton Siva are still out for Saturday’s game, and guard Jerry Smith injured his Achilles in practice. Coach Rick Pitino says it’s a good chance to let some other players get game experience, but it doesn’t help the overall growth of the team.“It’s taken too much continuity away from our practice," says Pitino, "it’s not a good thing because this’ll be life and death to win this game, we’re gonna need our sixth man in this game to win this game, we’re gonna need the crowd to get us over the hump in this one.”Senior guard Edgar Sosa remains in the starting lineup. The 5-1 Cards face 5-1 Charlotte Saturday evening at seven at Freedom Hall.Kentucky returns to action tomorrow against North Carolina. Indiana is idle until Tuesday, when the Hoosiers face Pittsburgh.
